Meetings

Minnesota Quilters offers two meetings each month, with the exceptions of December and June. The evening meetings are on the first Thursday of the month and begin at 7:00 p.m. The morning meetings are on the following Saturday and begin at 10:00 a.m. *Dates may vary if there is a conflict with a holiday.
As of August 2016 our meetings are held at 253 State Street in St Paul, MN, unless otherwise noted.  The building belongs to The Recovery Church.
Meetings are free for MQ members, $5 for non-members. When there's a workshop, the locations may vary. Check the registration forms for details when it comes out.      Meeting rules and policies.
*Coffee and treats will now be served before each meeting to allow more time for socialization among our members. Coffee will be ready at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and 9:30 am on Saturdays. Wear your name tags/membership cards so we can get to know each other. Meeting speakers may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control.

February 15 to 17 MQ's Quilting for Others at Millie P's.
 

March 1 & 3 MQ monthly meetings - MQP will host Lori Triplett for both lectures and classes. On Thursday Lori will will feature an “Overview of the Poos Collection”.  Learn about the origins of the collection and enjoy a trunk show presenting a variety of different antique and contemporary quilts as well as textiles from around the world. On Saturday the program will focus on “Chintz Columns and Calico Cloth”.  Lori will discuss the history of Chintz while showing rare and wonderful 19th century antique fabric and quilts.

Learning Opportunities Associated with the March MQ Programs:
 “Adire: African Indigo Resist Techniques”.  Adire is a type of indigo resist dyed cloth made by the Yoruba people of Nigeria and Benin.  The Poos Collection includes many examples of these textiles.  In this class, Lori will demonstrate four resist techniques: wrap, bean wrap, stitch resist and hand painted resist.  Each student will prepare one yard of fabric that they may dye at home after the class.  Fabric and dye are included in a kit supplied by the instructor.
Time:  Friday, March 3, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 
Level: Beginner and above
Cost:  $50 for MQ members, $60 for nonmembers

“Chintz Up Close and Personal”.  Lori will discuss details of column prints and calico. This “table turning” will allow close inspection of the fabric in these 19th century quilts.
Time:  Saturday, March 4, 1-4 p.m. 
Level:  Beginner and above
Cost:  $40 for MQ members, $50 for nonmembers

Meeting Rules and Policies

  1. Please turn off your cell phones.
  2. Announcements are only for MQ business or quilt-related activities.
  3. Please do not make any announcements concerning selling personal items or private business promotion.  If you have something to sell or a business to promote you are welcome to put out flyers and business cards or put an ad in the MQ newsletter.

MQ Event Cancellation Notification Policy

In the case of inclement weather or other situation that may cause a cancellation of an MQ monthly membership meeting or sponsored event, the following will occur:

• A posting will be made on the MQ website and on Facebook

• A recorded message will be on the MQ office phone

• An email blast will be sent to all members

• Time-permitting, KSTP TV and WCCO TV and radio stations will be contacted

• If a cancellation is pending; the MQ website will indicate at what time a decision will be made/posted
