Susan Stein presents Sampler Adventures
Susan started quilting in 1977 and doing surface design on fabric around 2003. She has been president and show co-chairman for Minnesota Quilters; has written six books and contributed to numerous others; was Minnesota Quilter of the Year in 2003; has taught many classes locally and out of state; was awarded the Spun Gold Award from Textile Center in 2011; and has made hundreds of quilts, wall hangings, and garments for publication, store samples, public buildings, and personal use. She co-owned a quilt shop from 1980-85 and owned Colorful Quilts and Textiles from 1995-2009. Currently her interests are mixed media art quilts and all kinds of surface design - painting, printing, discharging color, layering, adding digital elements, and writing on fabric.
Sampler Adventures includes over two dozen quilts that show these old favorites going from predictable traditional to innovative contemporary. New settings will illustrate the endless possibilities for showing off block designs as well as surface design techniques, memories, themes, fabric collections, and more.
PICNIC POTLUCK
Join us for our second annual Picnic Potluck following the Saturday meeting. MQ will provide utensils, lemonade, plates and paper goods. Plan to bring a dish to share. We will use SignUpGenius for food needed. Stay tuned for details.
